February 8 - April 10, 1999
Photography satisfied the desire of the masses for immortality. The public, however, was not satisfied with bland monochrome pictures. This exhibition of 50 works, ranging from the daguerrotype to the modern silver print, documents the demand for photographs in color.
An illustrated catalog, Forgotten Marriage: the Painted Tintype & the Decorative Frame (Burns Press,1992), will accompany the exhibition and will be available for sale.
