Symposium: Five guest speakers
The exhibition will present an extensive look at the work of this fascinating photographer whose images of social, political, and labor events of the late 40s through the 60s reflect the aesthetics of the Photo League and document an important era in American history. The exhibition, drawn from UMBC's expansive archive of Mildred Grossman photographs (more than 50,000 images and negatives) will be the first to examine Grossman's work in the context of the artistic, social and political climate of the 50s and 60s and to identify her contributions to American documentary photography of the period.
An illustrated catalogue with interpretive essays will accompany the exhibition.
